    Volunteering and participating in charity walks and runs is also a good way to bolster a positive online presence.

    Also, create a google alert for yourself so you know whenever a good (or bad) thing about you hits the ‘net.

    Lindsey, thanks for the fantastic tips about building an online presence. I would add posting regular, well-written content on a blog and submitting articles/letters to the editor to local newspapers.

    you can share your career/personal success with your college/university – they will likely want to do an article on you (say, if you run a marathon for charity)…
